I have a dream and he is here in my arms…
I have a dream and he is nine months old today, September 1st…
I have a dream and he dreams of meeting you all…
Arman, the name chosen by his birth mother, means “a dream” in Kazakh. The Kazakhstanis pronounce the name Arman with a rolled “r” – my advice for saying it in the U.S. is to pretend you are going to say “Armani” (like the designer), but leave off the “e” sound at the end. He will probably know who you are referring to whether you say “ar-MAHN” or “AR-min” – I wouldn’t fret about it too much.
We are home in Ithaca and would love to see you!
Many thanks to Julianna for taking the photos on this blog entry.

hi cindy... wow... well, so it begins (or maybe better to say, "enters this phase." What an amazing thing it is to adopt... and what a cute kid!! goes well with his cute Mom and rightly so... reminds me more than a little of our Lucas when he was 9 months... he's a freshman at college now, and my advice is, WATCH OUT!!! the time/space continuum is about to warp... of all the many smiles i got scrolling down the photos and earlier posts, i loved the clothes sorting, pre trip, and the "don't wake me, i'll wake you!" shirt.. so perfect... seems like a nanosecond and you will, in fact, have to wake him... enjoy every second of this life you have and breathe deeply... if you don't already, get one of those clever little sony cameras that record movies direct to DVDs... i have recently used one, and they have finally got the bugs out, near as i can tell... MUCH superior now to the more traditional miniDV tape digitals of the recent past... best in all ways, always.. lathrop
